Athina Rachel Tsangari has created a film and an installation for the DesteFashionCollection 2012 entitled CAPSULE, a project commissioned by Greek art collector Dakis Ioannou in collaboration with Barneys creative director Dennis Freedman. The theme is based on a Greek Gothic Mystery, inspired by Polish artist Aleksandra Waliszewska. The installation opens at Barneys New York tonight as one of the five window displays while the film will be showcased in the Fall. Dakis Ioannou also invited artists Juergen Teller, Helmut Lang, M/M, and poet Patricial Cavalli to interpret fashion pieces through different site-specific installations/artworks.

Here are some stills of this wonderful work by Ms Tsangari which was filmed in Hydra island and brings together seven young women in a mansion of Cycladic rock, exploring a series of lessons of discipline, desire, discovery and disappearance. In the film written by Ms Tsangari and Aleksandra Waliszewska, the costumes are designed by emerging and renowned fashion designers like Ying Gao, Sandra Backlund, Catt Potter, Isabelle Vigier and more.
